Hi,

I brought this up a while ago, IIRC.

The problem very frequently arises by clicking on some link that I don't expect to open in the scratch grid or by inadvertently clicking on anything that would open in a scratch grid  (e.g. clicking on a parent in the properties pane,by mistake...) and poof : current work in the scratch grids is... gone **.   : (

(The same problem sometimes happen with the search grid -- in different circumstances -- but less often.)

I'm always careful of shift-clicking (it 's my default scratch grid use mode), but everyday something opens up by mistake in the scratch grid. Wondering if :

1- the default could be opening a new scratch gird each time instead of recycling the current one. (Seems to me that it's much easier to close extra scratch grids than to try to find out what items were  previously showing up in the already opened scratch grid.)

2- OR:  IQ could warn the user with a popup : "This action will change what is displayed in the currently opened scratch grid. Continue?" (a bit like when a grid source is changed)

What do you think?

** Strategy I already use : create multiple numbered custom scratch/search grid so that I'm sure they won't get hijacked by anything. But it doesn't alleviate the  problem completely.
