Each time I create a new item, the focus goes to the HTML Pane. Likewise moving to a new item.

Using 88c.

I had noticed in earlier versions of 88 that focus was sometimes going to HTML Pane when it shouldn't do - eg focus was on grid, I'd press down arrow, instead of going to next item it shifted focus to the HTML Pane.

Now it seems like it's doing it all the time.

-- I'd add that it seems a lot worse in some databases than in others. But at some point, navigating through items, focus will always jump to the Pane. It is also always particular items that do it. Other than the fact of having something in the HTML Pane, I can't see any common factor.

I can reproduce the issue when the HTML pane is floating. Is this the case ?

(all is fine when the pane is docked)

I mentioned the same thing in the "88.c is available" thread. It's been like this for a long time. You have to select a grid item a second time to remove focus from the HTML pane. For example, I'm working in the HTML pane. I finish, select a grid item, and hit return to create a new item. Instead of creating a new item, it moves down one line in the new HTML pane.

This does all seem part of the general "stickiness" of the HTML Pane. I find it more when I'm navigating with up/down arrows through the grid - at a certain point focus will jump to the HTML Pane. And in some databases it does it continually so I can't use the arrow keys to navigate through the grid at all.

I went back and tried this out with previous versions of IQ, using the same db in each of them. All the v88 versions had this problem. Working my way back, when I got to v87c, the problem ceased. So to me it definitely presents as a v88 problem. In fact I'll go back and use 87c till this is fixed.

I hope your response doesn't mean you've concluded the problem only occurs in obscure circumstances. For me, it's a constant headache. Focus repeatedly goes to the HTML pane when it shouldn't. I've also lost the ability to move grid items using alt-arrow shortcuts. This is on top of losing Ctrl-C / Ctrl-V commands in the grid.

I just reverted to 9.87c. First time for me that things were so bad I had to go back to an earlier version. So much better now.

... I'll second this. I've actually gone back a bit further than you, Wayne, to v86, as v87 gives me another problem, which is that of the Blank Properties Pane. Like you, first time I've felt the need to do that. I just can't use v88 at all. It's now at the point where I cannot get focus to go into the grid; it always jumps to the Pane.

I'd also add that for me now, v88 is not just taking focus to the HTML Pane, but to the "Pane" as such. If it's the Properties Pane that's showing, that's where the focus goes when I try to navigate with arrow keys among items in the grid.

AFAICT, these HTML pane focus issues have been resolved in v89
