When I delete an item, 99% of the time I want it deleted from the database.  Each time, the delete dialogue comes up with "Remove from this Parent only" selected.
I have to then move the selection to "erase entirely".

Is there a way to change the default selection to "erase entirely".  Or is there any other way to delete in one step without having to manually pick from the options each time?

That extra step might save you from making a terrible mistake, once in a while. It certainly did in my case.
That said, there could be a shortcut like in Windows Explorer, when one wants to permanently erase without sending to the recycle bin.
Maybe ctrl+shift+E?

I understand the concern about accidental deletion.  That'll go away when we get an "undo" down the road.

In the mean time,
1- a special shortcut (I suggested ctrl+shift+e)
2- + some check box in the "erase dialog" that could be checked/unchecked (like the copy item dialog) : "Remember last pick as default option" (wording is poor, but I'm sure you get the idea)

I'm all for less clicks but the arrow key is right below the delete key, what does it take, an extra 1/10 of a second to click it, come on .

p.s. I'm just ribbing you, some of my requests are just as bad .

I thought it was a little worse than that.  Doesn't the permanent delete option change position in the list?  So I have to first read the list to make sure I'm picking the right option (ie it's not always #3).  I may well be completely wrong on that.  In any case, I know it's not a big deal.  Just seems like quite a few keystrokes.

If it's always #3 then Ctrl-E, 3 is an efficient option, as good as creating another shortcut.

Yeah, that is something I wanted to fix, so Delete would always be the same #, 1 being the logical choice, So Ctrl + E +1 would erase items

In v90, the Erase item button is the first one, so Ctrl + E + 1 will always erase the item

My bad Wayne, I only remember it always defaulting to "remove only from this grid" and a single keystroke down to "remove entirely".  But that's probably due to the nature of the items I'm usually deleting.

Even though I ribbed Wayne about this request I now love having it be the default option 1 in version 90.  99% of the time I delete an item it's because I want to delete it entirely, it's nice having that be the top default.  Edit: in fact I wish it was the default option, I notice the default changes based on whether it's a TLI or CLI.
