The IQ web page clipper is one of the few things I still find lacking in IQ and I'd like to come up with a good clipping solution for myself now, without waiting for better clipper functionality, as I know Pierre has much more pressing features to work on.  There are some 3rd party clipping solutions that allow me to instantly clean up and format a web page - but the problem is that if you then paste that into IQ it puts it in the database, and I don't want to create a huge (slower) database because of the web clippings.

Right now in the HTML pane right click > paste special gives several options.  Would it be possible to add an additional option of "HTML format with local storage"?  If that options is selected the content would be pasted as an (editable) HTM file along with associated local storage for the HTM file and folder.

Thanks

Hi David,

I've been using the same IQBase for the last 12 years, entering all sorts of stuff, clippings, etc and it is still very responsive. In fact, it is getting faster over the years due to IQ being for responsive and though PCs being faster.

The IQBase is using JET which is very fast, so unless you plan on importing huge documents, I would not worry about decreased performances.

That said, once imported, at regular times, you can sort / filter items by ItemHTMLSize and for the very large items, convert them to HTM or MHT files.

Also, generally what is taking lots of space are images, and IQ always stores them as separate files.

But your proposed idea is interesting and quite easy to implement, so I'll add it to the wish list

Thanks Pierre, for now I won't worry about it making the database larger [though it would still be a nice feature addition I think :-)].
