I was wondering whether it would be possible to start up an IQ instance with a very spartan set of UI elements, e.g. perhaps only one grid open for making a new quick outline, and most UI elements hidden for a very uncluttered look. I am wondering whether this can be done through loading IQ with a specific "layout".
I am wondering what is included in the concept of an IQ "layout" - it seems to focus on the location of panes and their docked/undocked status. Does a "layout file" also specify what grids are loaded? What toolbars are shown? etc.
I looked at IQ command-line options at http://www.sqlnotes.net/drupal5/index.php?q=node/238 and it looks like the only command line options are /File, /Password, and /User. Might it be useful to have a /Layout switch - to enable the user to Load an IQ database with one grid or a specific set of grids loaded, with certain panes visible according to a defined arrangement, and with certain toolbars open?
This could be useful for creating LNK files in in filesystem folders for opening IQ with grids and layout that are specifically related to the other files in that filesystem folder. Hope this idea makes sense!
