Grid auto-update causes strange errors when editing item title (it's like constantly hitting F2), as well as crashes IQ often.
I have spent a whole day looking for a reason of the crashes and finally turned off the auto-update - so far it is working stable.

Hi Maciej

Background load of items is a new feature which uses the Auto-update setting of grids. I suspect this is the issue as auto-update per se has been working fine for a long time

That said, can you provide more information on the steps to reproduce it, and:
  1. Display mode: Normal ?
  2. Item WYSIWYG editor or not
  3. Screenshot of the grid would help too

Hey, Pierre.

Here is my first ever attempt to record my screen. You need to have powerpoint to open it, as I’ve used its native “screen record” option.

The bug hits in 3.3. line. Then I turned auto-update off and it got the app a little bit to work properly again. As written before, the bug feels like you have F2 button pressed all the time. It doesn’t read the spacebar as well and crashes the IQ quickly.

“Display mode: Normal?”

The one on screen is flat, but I have tried it on several grids with different display modes and the bug existed in each. Let me know if the video is enough or you still need additional screenshots.

Download the file here (onedrive’s share link): https://1drv.ms/p/s!Ah3iqzBERTBUgpgoRZa2EI51kKzggA

Btw, if you have any experience with screen recording and have your favourite software to do so, then let me know please. Powerpoint was the only option I had at hand

Hi,

I was not able to view your recording, but from the startup image, I have a few questions
  1. Your grid has no source, how many items in the IQBase (File > Properties) ?
  2. Flat view does not background load item, so that is ruled out. Auto-update is the problem here
  3. What happens if you turn off the grid filter ?
  4. Does the lockup happen as soon as you open the grid ? If not, what triggers it ?
  5. Can you reproduce it with a sample IQBase ?
For recording, there are quite a few, but free camstudio works well.

619
  1. What happens if you turn off the grid filter ?
No change.

No, I start writing, and after several seconds/few items later it kicks in. Maybe its triggered by the auto-update process?

  1. Can you reproduce it with a sample IQBase ?

I’ve tried with new, empty database and couldn’t reproduce it.

Perhaps send the file over so I can look at it.
