Index Linked File looks like a great new feature.  It appears that the text of the linked file is stored in the FileText field, and the number of bytes is stored in the FileTextSize field.   Just as the text of a HTML pane document is stored in the ItemHTMLText field and the size is stored in the ItemHTMLTextSize field.

I just indexed a linked file (win.ini) and then did a Ctrl+F search for text in the file ("mci extensions") - this is what came up in the Live Search tab.

I don't see that the Live Search pane indicates where (what field, where in the field) the found text is.  So the user has to figure that out, ah, the found text is in the linked file.  It would be great if the Live Search pane had a column that would show the found field/ or linked file, and maybe a brief excerpt showing the search hit and the immediate context.

Just another item for the community Wish List.

Hi Jim,

Yup, improvements are in the works for this new feature, namely an automatic indexing mode and also I'd like to add a field, such as the ItemHasHTML, to be called FileIsIndexed, which could be shown in a grid or simply in the Properties pane.

Regarding Live Search, if you use the dropdown menu and check Show Details, you'll see the field, which as you stated correctly, is called FileText:

The Show Details view is just what the doctor ordered.  Great stuff !!

Obviously the FileText field could contain a LOT of text, so that you might have to expand the row a lot to see the highlighted search hit (example below).  Would it make sense to display only the search hits in their immediate context?
