In version 109 pre8, I can't copy and paste Items as XML (full items, without subs). I haven't tried yet with a sample DB.
1- Select item
2- copy as XML
3- paste as XML : only the item field text is copied and pasted.
 
Don't know if that bug has other ramifications.

Actually, Edit > Copy dialog is broken altogether ! It always copies as "Selected grid rows and columns"
