Now I think this is not a bug, just a "differently implemented feature".

 

I tried to copy date values from one date column to another "spreadsheet style" - highlight some cells in source column, Ctrl+C, move to top cell of destination range, press Ctrl+V, got the following dialog:

 

 

In this case Option 1 does not work, and I don't want to select Option 2 because I don't want to create any new items.

 

Later on I discovered how to do the copy successfully - after pressing Ctrl+C in one column, I need to highlight the same number of cells in the destination column, then press Ctrl+V.  It might be a bit of a pain sometimes to highlight the correct number of cells.

 

So if you try to do it "spreadsheet style" (pasting on top cell of destination range), maybe there should be another option - "Paste into N cells starting with selected cell".
