When I want to drag items around, I often end up not waiting long enough after pressing the mouse button down before moving the mouse. Result: select multiple items rather than the intended drag, which then has to be corrected by re-selecting the item I want to drag and repeating the drag procedure correctly.

For my part, I'd be happy with Shift-click to select multiples or using the keyboard to do it.

Thanks

Which IQ versions are you using. Here, no need to wait after clicking on some items to start dragging...

Doing some tests I see that if using the # column, it is still required to wait. Select and drag drop using the tree column and you won't need to wait. I'll see if I can fix it for the # column

Sorry, Pierre, I was mistaken about the wait being my problem with dragging items around. It's probably just that I often miss the text of an item (especially when the bottom line of an item has lots of blank space, I guess) when I want to drag it and end up with the selection rectangle instead. I realize now that it's just a matter of where I click, not the delay, and that I should probably aim more carefully.

However, I'd rather clicking anywhere would drag the item and i would do selection with shift-clicks. The careful aiming before drags just isn't for me. If you feel so inclined, maybe make this an option.

Cheers!

I've been looking into this some more and I think my problem is that when I use left drag to select multiple items and then click again to drag them somewhere, I don't hit item text and do another selection instead. My suggestion therefore would be that when multiple items are selected and the user clicks one of the selected items, the following drag should be interpreted as 'move item' rather than an attempt to change the selection. Cheers
