I have followed the instructions for EmailToIQ on https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/?q=node/2952 and I have successfully sent a couple of emails to IQ.

I Check EmailToIQ Now via the Tools menu.

I can find the 2 items that I emailed successfully to Infoqube when I search for them, but I cannot get them to appear in the Inbox or Emails grid.

What might I be doing incorrectly.

I'm new to InfoQube, but I'm an ex-user of EccoPro for several years but stopped using it mostly because it became abandonware.

Note of Thanks:
I decided to put some effort into using InfoQube after reading Paul Miller's excellent review at https://pauljmiller.wordpress.com/2018/10/23/a-comparative-review-of-four-note-taking-programs/

Thanks for the excellent review Paul. Much appreciate the effort you have put in to document your thoughts and conclusions.

Hi patteoks !

First a warm welcome from the IQ community. There are quite a few ex-Ecco users here, so they'll be able to share with you how IQ is "same as but different" w.r.t. Ecco
3 questions:
  1. So in Tools > Option > 2.3.4, you did set it to assign the Inbox field ?
  2. How is your Inbox grid setup (screenshot)
  3. If you look at the Properties pane > Values for the imported items, what fields are set ?

I don't see any option in the setting up of the EmailToIQ dialog box to assign the Inbox field.

I have attached a screen shot of the dialog box.

Actually, I'm not sure what you mean by 2.3.4 as I assume you are referring to Option 2, Sub item 3, Sub, sub item 4?

It's not entirely clear so I assume you are referring to the EmailToIQ setup dialog box.

On your Q3, when I search for the item I EmailToIQ, and I go into Item editor, I can see that the checkbox for Inbox at the bottom is not checked. After I checked it manually, I can see that on the properties pane, there is a green arrow for Inbox, but yet when I looked at the Inbox grid, I don't see the Item I EmailledToIQ appearing there (now that I have manually ticked the Inbox in the Item Editor)

 Thanks !
  1. Checkout 10. Program Settings and options on how to see the # column. The option is not in that dialog, but just below (Always assign these fields:)
  2. Thanks, perhaps press F5 to refresh the grid. It should auto-update, but perhaps that setting is off
Hints:
1- Checkout how to insert images in post here: Web site User manual
2- Referring to other content is easy using the syntax

hi patteoks
I auto-assign the field 'Emails' to incoming emails (in Options). I dont think there's an 'Emails' grid by default in a new file, but if you create one it will use said field as the source and automatically show the emails.

If those entry-numbers are hidden (they were here -- is that the default Pierre?) a double-arrow will show on the left edge to expand the hidden column.

Thanks for your help Tom,

I decided to start from scratch with a new blank IQBase without sample data as I have only just started with InfoQube and not sure what other settings I may have accidentally change that may have cause my problem. So I'm a complete Newbie with some background in using Ecco Pro many years ago at this stage.

The first thing I did was to figure out the EmailToIQ and I'm glad to say that, yes, it works.

Thank you Pierre too.

As for the entry numbers like 2.3.3, 2.3.4, I must say that it is not obvious what need to be done to make them appear even when I hover the mouse pointer over the left edge and can see the auto appear. I only realised by chance that I had to drag the border to the right to make them not autohide.

May I suggest that from a Newbie's perspective, these numbers eg 2.3.4 should display by default, otherwise, it's just another unnecessary hurdle a newbie will have to climb to "get it" with InfoQube so to speak.
