I found two such items. I dragged the first item to its date in the calendar, which made it re-appear in the calendar. I haven't done that for the other item yet and it's still gone from the calendar, even though that field is checked. What can we do to debug? Thanks.

Did you try to do a Database > Repair ?
What date fields have values ? If you F2 edit the date values, you can select Show In Calendar

Database repair did not fix it.
 
I live-searched for the item, then clicked on the home grid link to show it. IQ crashed. Restarted and live-searched for it again, now it didn't have a home grid anymore (hyperlink disappeared from live search). I then gave it an Action date field value and it's now showing in my main action grid, but the properties pane has the item as shown in 0 grids, and it's still not showing up in the calendar, so something is still fishy. See screenshot of properties pane.
