I am starting to use grouping by columns quite a bit. I would really like whatever column I drag to the group bar to be bold, it would make it much easier to easily spot the groupings. Is this possible and if not please consider adding as a feature.

I do see that I can make the grouped column heading bold by using an outline style that makes the 1st level bold, but then of course all the items are bold too.

Thanks

Would have sworn you could format column headers using column>column headers, but I don't see it now.  Did that feature get removed?

Wouldn't be quite what you're looking for anyway since it wouldn't be automatic.

Also, I think it might have applied to all instances of the column (ie would be the same as formatting the caption in the field dialogue, which you can do).

Thanks Wayne. The field color actually would solve the issue, *if* I always grouped using the same column.

If there was also a bold option there, that would work for me since I typically don't set items themselves as bold.

Bolding headers is definitely an interesting thing to add

Just specify when headers should be shown in bold and I'll add it

p.s. David: You're not using font attributes for items ? Bold, Italic ? You're missing out on a great and easy way to have items stand out

David,

You can bold the column header by using formatting code in the field dialogue (<B> etc),  Of course, this field caption will be bolded wherever it's used, not just when it heads up a group of columns.

You COULD group with the same column every time by using dummy columns set up for the express purpose of containing other columns.

Give them generic names (eg Set1, Set2).  Use color fill and bolding to make them stand out.

The generic names won't tell you what's inside but maybe you could come up with more descriptive names for different types of sets.

This may be far off the mark for what you're trying to do.

Thanks Wayne! I didn't know I could do format right in the dialog like that. I think you may have mentioned that in your first post but i thought you were referring to something else.

Just making it bold works and it works well. ATM I can't think of any reason I would mind it being bold everywhere. And in fact, I much prefer all my column headers being bold, so if I don't experience any downside to it after using it a few days, I'll probably do that for most fields.

You can also bold a header using Column > Header > Caption. Select text and hit Ctrl+B

Even easier.

For whatever reason I cannot bold the Tags field even though I can bold every other default field, or at least all the other ones I have done so far.
