I've been inputting a large number of tags, and have been getting "total" crashes, 7 yesterday and 2 today. The crashes are such such that IQ just disappears.
Each time it has happened when I enter a totally new tag, or two of them in succession.

In the tags pane area. I enter mynewtag1 then enter, enter (all three done very quickly). Occasionally this will crash IQ, but I haven't been able to make cause it on purpose.
The 2 occurrences today were both when typing 2 new tags in quick succession, and it "blew up" at the second one.

The only thing new in my setup is that I have the doc pane, tags pane, and properties pane attached together,on a second monitor. Main monitor has the grid and home page open.

Hi Keith,

Can you detail how the tags are created ?
(Enter should not create tags, either you used Insert or the menu command)

To create many tags at once, you know that you can press Insert and enter a comma separated list of tags ?
Also, the Tags grid supports copy / paste (and import), so this is a easy way to add a large number of tags at once, especially if these come from another program (through an export file or copy / paste)

Thanks for the comma separated tip. I don't remember seeing that in the manual.

I was creating tags from the filter textbox exclusively.
The manual supported this:
  • While focus is still in the Filter text box:
    • If more than one tag matches the filter, use the down arrow to move focus to a tag and press Space to toggle the tag state
    • If only one tag matches the filter, press Enter will toggle the tag state
    • If no tag matches the filter, press Enter to show the Add Tag dialog

exact steps:

1 select item.
2 click in the doc pane, and visually scan there  for pseudo taggins system from a previous PIM. It shows "tagmonitor taginventory"
3 visually scan tags pane  (for example it shows computer, monitor, software assigned as tags)
4 mentally decide based on any existing "real" tags, and the pseudo tags, what the desired "real" tags end state should be. In this case,  need to get rid of the software tag, and  I don't know if xerox tag exists or not.
5 Click Tags Pane to give it focus
6 Ctrl F if the filter box doesn't have focus
7 in filter box, type "software" and enter to deselect the existing software tag
8 clear out "software" text in the filter box (backspacing the text out, since I haven't gotten used to the adjacent icon)
9 type xerox in the filter box. Nothing shows, so hit ENTER to get the Add Tag dialog, then enter to "OK" it. Now xerox is assigned as a tag.
9,5 hold breath while seeing whether it crashes this time or not.
10 delete the pseudo tag text in the doc pane.
11 repeat approximately 3000 more times...(current status is about 2500 left)

This was working extremely well (except for the crashes)
After wondering about about the F2/F3/Ins I wasn't seeing, I then realized I had to have focus in the tags area, and not the filter box area.
I've been experimenting with this way now.
I was getting confused as how to  de-focus from the filter box area. It looks like a couple of Tabs will get me there..

Hi Keith

re crash: I'll try to reproduce it

[edit] I think it is now fixed in v115a

Otherwise:
  1. Multiple tags: Dialog and Doc now shows this. Thanks !
  2. Create tags: OK, I had forgotten that method (lol)
  3. Ctrl+T moves focus to the Tags pane
  4. Ctrl+F while in the filter box now selects the text so you can start typing
  5. A single Tab moves focus between the filter box and the tags list
  6. Arrow down also moves focus to the tags list (top of)
  7. Arrow up moves focus to the filter box

After some heavy-duty tagging work for 2 days with 0.9.115a, tha tagging now appears to be rock solid
