How about a right-click option for parent fields in Properties Pane > All Fields (tree view) - "Convert Field Hierarchy to Tag Hierarchy". or "Copy Field Hierarchy to Tag Hierarchy".

Hi Jim,
Multiple select is planned for the Properties pane. This will open the way to copy / paste from Fields to Tags (and eventually the opposite way too)
