Is there any way to display the doc pane for some grids but not others?

Pretty sure sure the answer is no but I really want it to be yes.

Would love to use more images in InfoQube but have never been able to figure out how to fit the doc pane into my work set up.  If I make it big enough to be useful, it crowds out other work.

If I could display it just in grids dedicated to images, the problem would be solved.

Closest thing I've found to a solution so far:

1) Display Doc pane for images
2) When done using that grid, close the Doc pane so other work can proceed
3) When you return to the images grid, launch the Doc Pane with F6.

It's kind of workable but the Doc pane does not remember its position.  Each time I have to drag the border to get it where i want.

Other possible solution is to make a separate file just for displaying images.

It's easier if you put the doc pane on the second monitor and reserve the first monitor for everything else.

Thanks, Paul.   I'm probably weird in that I don't like to have active work on my second monitor (don't like constantly swiveling my head; don't like a bright screen in my peripheral vision).

Closest thing I've come to a solution:

1) Display doc as a narrow pane on right edge of screen, where it's out of the way
2) To see images, right-click doc pane header>toggle float
3) This displays pane where I can view images (but covers up other work)
4) To return to regular work, toggle screen back to docked narrow-pane position.

This is not too bad of a solution, especially if I could figure out shortcut keys for the toggle float command (but it's not listed in the shortcuts dialogue).

Shift+F11 will work. I don't know why it's not listed in the keyboard shortcuts.
I use it on a toolbar. Look for the "floating pane" command, which is default Shift+F11
On my setup, I have 2 (landscape) monitors stacked vertically, and the grid is on the lower monitor, and the doc pane on the upper. The up-down eye motion is easy on my eyes.
My toggle is between the fixing the doc pane to the grid on the lower monitor or putting the doc pane by itself on the top monitor.
(By the way, monitor three is to the right side in portrait mode, where it houses the properties pane and the tags pane, which works wonderfully since I can see something like 80 tags and fields at a time. And generally I'm not looking at these panes all the time, so I don't find it rough on the eyes to look over there occasionally)

Thanks for the shortcut.  Only works when the doc pane is selected (ie you can't launch the pane while focus is in the grid)..  Still better than using the context menu, though.

Hi Wayne,

I've often wanted that too.

It shouldn't be too hard to do. Let me get v117Pre3 out and I'll look into it
