Is there a way to create a grid directly from a form besides drag / drop one item at a time from properties?
If not, why not?
If not, can / will it be considered?

I realize the form is for data entry but it seems to me that it could have multiple uses where -- for example -- a project requires its own grid but while the items may differ, the specific data, i.e.columns are required in each grid.

Thanks

I'm not sure it would be that useful if grid copying (columns, etc.)  is implemented at some point.
Mantis issue 579

I very much like this idea:
  • Right-click on a form and select Show these fields in grid.
  • Changes to the grid column set would now prompt to save changes
This would fill double-duty of allowing creation of grid column sets, something that was previously asked.

The more I think about it, the more I like it.
(Guess it would be good also if one could create a form from a grid -- but probably secondary.)

Yes. I think this complete inter-changeability between grids & forms would be very useful & should be true alternatives.  There will be times when user will want to change the view from full outline items to items w grids.

Interesting thread. Another consequence of this, is the ability to toggle display of columns (on/off), other than the Items column
