Pierre, If there is consensus, would you mind terribly changing
 
strikethough to some key combo to go along w <CTRL>+S, i..e <CTRL><SHFT>
and
institute a forced save with <CTRL>S
 
<CTRL>S is such a standard for saving that I, for one, find myself striking thru a lot trying to institute a save even tho I know IQ saves when I switch focus.

true not a great idea for default key (I use it myself mind you for select item)
 
Have you had a look at 
Right Click Menu > Customise > Keyboard > Item > Strikethrough
and you can change the key there for yourself

No. I confess. Thanks for pointing that out & I will do that.  However, to my other point, I think IQ should have a forced save. <CTRL>+S is the standard for that function, I believe.
