Just needed to move an item from near the top to the bottom of a list with over 500 items.  Couldn't figure out an easy way to do it so I'm hoping to learn something new.

1) Dragging is great over short distances but not a long list.  You can't can't drag to the bottom of the screen and continue scrolling down.  You have to release the item, manually scroll down, re-select the item, and repeat.

2) Keyboard alt-down arrow takes a long time.

3) There are more convoluted methods better avoided because of the extra steps (eg assigning sort numbers to a text field).

4) Mark item; assign as subitem at bottom of list; return to original location; delete item there; return to new location and promote item to TLI.

I usually use #4 but it takes too much back and forth to opposite ends of the list.  I know there was discussion of a new "mark" command that would let you move an item in one step.  That would be the ideal solution, I think.  If it's "on the list", then never mind.

Is there something else I'm not thinking of?

Open a second copy of the grid. Scroll to bottom. Drag/move item?

(Re layout: iirc you can drag to a tab, the grid will then display. Or naturally you can do what I call dual-pane grids etc etc)

How do I ?
