Properties pane filtering, keyboard shortcuts to dialogs, grid active indicator

Some of this suggestions or something similar may already be implemented.

(1) Make Properties Panel filterable like the Tags Pane/Dialog is filterable.  For example, to show instantly a specific Form or Field in the All Fields list, or any other item under the Properties pane.  I know we can already use Find-As-You-Type (Quick Search?) to jump to a specific field (this doesn't work for certain things listed in the Properties Pane, for example, a Form name).  Anyway my idea is that Filter-As-You-Type would instantly filter the Properties Pane to show only the matching things (Field Names, Form Names etc), plus the headings over those things to provide context.

(2) I see that we can type [[ to bring up an Embed Link To dialog.  And ## brings up the Tags dialog.  I'd like to see similar keystrokes to bring up a Fields dialog or a Forms dialog.  Again the Fields dialog and/or Forms dialog should be Filter-As-You-Type as described above.

(3)  Active Pane indicator for the Grid pane.  When I press the F4, F6, or Ctrl+T toggle keys to activate the Properties Pane, Doc Pane, or Tags Pane, the headers over those panes turn orange to indicate that they are active.  But when I press the toggle key again to return to the grid, I don't see a similar indicator that the Grid is active now, rather than any of the other panes.  As it is the way I can learn that the Grid is active by using the Up/Down keys to move between items.  OK, now I see that when another pane is active, the active item in the Grid might just be a little lighter color of orange, and there is no line around the active item field.  And when I toggle back to the Grid, the active item field is surrounded by a thin black line.  Still I think it would be nice if some heading in the Grid (column header?) was colored orange to indicate that the Grid is now active rather than Properties/Doc/Tag pane.

I had another idea but it slipped my mind.  🤔

Hi Jim,

The first one was actually quite easy to do:

  • New: Properties pane: filter (same as Tags pane). Ctrl+F/G and start typing to filter. Down arrow to return to the pane

Thanks for the suggestion !

Wow, this is great!  I couldn't wait to download this version just to see this and try it out.  I have quite a few forms and many many fields, and many times I've done a lot of scrolling just to fill in a specific field in the All Fields list.  Although Find As You Type helps with that, this Filter As You Type is FAR better.  THANKS !!

One slight little improvement.  Say I can remember the name of a field in a form, but I can't remember the name of the form.  For example, I type in "reference" to filter the properties pane.  That will display the "reference" field in the "GTD" form, under the GTD form heading. Now I'd like to see the other fields in the GTD form so I can fill them in.  While the "reference" filter is applied, I can't click the "GTD" form heading to see those fields.  I have to clear the "reference" filter, and then type in "GTD" to filter the list.  Once I do that, I can click the GTD heading and display the fields underneath it.  That's ok, no big problem there, but it would be even better if I could display those other fields without having to first clear the "reference" filter.
