We've had a number of threads over the years expressing the desire for a grid of grids, to organize a large number of grids.  This is useful - https://infoqubeim.com/drupal5/node/4693 - BUT it doesn't get updated when you add a grid (most common) or delete a grid (rare).  So, if you want to update your Grid of Grids to add the ones you've added since the last revision of the Grid of Grids, you have to figure ouf which Grids are the ones you already have in the Grid of Grids, and which ones are the new ones, so you can add them.  Or else rebuild and reorganize the Grid of Grids from scratch.  Either way, a lot of work.

Maybe each grid in the Manage Grids dialog could have an IQ item automatically associated with it.  It would exist so long as the Grid exists, has its own IDItem number, can be deleted only by deleting the grid.  It could have a "Grid" Y/N field (system field?) set to Y.  This field would be the source of the Grids grid.  The Item text, as shown in the Manual page shown above, would be a link to the Grid.  Otherwise it would be like any other item - e.g. can have fields, tags, parents, children, etc.
