Refreshing grid collapses outline

Submitted by WayneK on 2026/06/21 11:35

When I refresh my grid, it often collapses my outline to one level and all my work positions are lost.

It comes up regularly because:

1) Changing format (eg fill color) sometimes doesn't show up in grid even though it's set to auto update
2) Link dragged into InfoQube sometimes comes in blank.

I've never logged occurrences but I'd guess it happens maybe 10-20% of the times I refresh.

This has been going on for a long time and I've just been living with it.  I know you won't be able to reproduce it or it would have been caught and fixed already but I'm bringing it up on the off chance you encounter it some time.

I have noticed the same issue. The only observation that I can add is that this collapse seems to happen reliably when I refresh grids that contain relatively few items and that it seems to never happen with grids that contain many items. I had always assumed that this step was a normal part of the refresh process, but that this step would not complete (or fail) if the grid contains too many items.

I don't think I can reproduce it but will note that it usually happens after something has gone wrong, as described in my first post.

For example, I assign a new fill color to an item and it fails to change the color.  The ItemColor column still shows the old fill color.  I refresh to get the correct color to show, and that's when everything collapses.

My other example is when dragging a link into InfoQube fails part-way through the process.  It shows the new link in the URL field, but the item field is left blank.  When I refresh, everything collapses.

It's almost as if InfoQube detects a process failure or hang up, and in response re-sets the grid to its "original" state, with no levels expanded.

Note that when I do the refresh, the hang up is resolved.  The item now shows the correct color, or the link now has the name filled in.

There might be other "hang-up" situations that lead to an outline collapse but they're not coming to mind right now.  I'll come back with more clues if I can come up with any.
