1. in edit mode, user selects word in a  an item
2. user clicks link icon
3. user searches for link-to item

some items appear in multiple grids.
These are not very readable as they overhang the single height cell space
cell height needs to adjust somehow to make this info more readable because user has to select correct link-to item

This is by design, you can resize the row if desired.

p.s. If wordwrap is enabled on the Shown In column, it must also be on the Item Name column and this make the UI too slow as the grid must calculate item heights for thousands of item...

I got the 'by design' part.
Could you please clarify the rest of your post.
Where is this shown in column, etc.
Thank you

Edited 05/15/09 08:01 am: another way to resolve this situation is to widen the columns but IQ doesn't seem to remember the column width from one usage to another.
<ctrl>+F -> find dialog
widen the window
widen the column "shown in" until all entries appear on a single line & become readable
close "find" window
switch to another grid (or not) & <ctrl>+F again
columns -- other than "shown in" -- retain their size

I would guess this is fixable.

Greetings Pierre

Following up on an old thread.

I understand that row height in Quick Search can't easily keep up with every possible Item height in a wordwrap, and so some crunching is expected. However:

1. Row height should be in proportion to the font size used, or configurable somewhere. It isn't in Quick Search, nor in the Properties pane (where I'm really enjoying the new font/size option.)  Properties looks good anyway, but my Quick Search height is always short, even on single-line Items.

2. Perhaps IQ could widen the row to fit the data if the user clicks on the Item he's interested in. Alternatively, Shown In could be displayed as a drop-down.

3. The Main Menu options "Grid" and "Item" are removed when a Quick Search window is up. They're restored if you click "Go" or "Close," but not if you close the window with the upper right X. (They can then be restored by clicking File-Properties or other casual use of the menu.)

Hi Jerome,

  1. Row height is now a function of font size and high enough to see part of the second line if present
  2. Focusing on an item increases the height to show the full item
  3. Fixed
All this in pre-rel10 coming up soon...
