I thought I knew how to do it, but I probably don't. I copied an item, 2-nd option (selected item and all subitems, XML format) than switched grids, and wanted to paste it, but nothing happened. This was a simple grid with only "item" field. I could do it by dragging, but still, my question is: why it didn't work by copy & paste method?

I cant answer your query about copying but just an important note about copying it 'by dragging' -

if you drag an item you move it -

if you drag with Ctrl key pressed you give the item a second parent - it's the same item (not a copy) but will now show under two (or more) parents.

Maybe you aware of this but mention in case . .

1- you selected your items, cut them (ctrl-x) and pasted them (ctrl-c) in another grid ?

2- or you selected your items and dragged them using the mouse into another grid ?

In case #1, it's probably only because your items don't meet the new grid's source + filters. So they don't show.

If you want to make sure that your "moved" items (items aren't really moved, but shown elsewhere, depending on filter+source) are somewhere, use the journal grid, or make a search, or create a grid with an empty source + filter. You should see all items in database and then sort them by Item Created date.

(Pierre... the copy-paste is something that needs to be improved... in terms of user friendliness... I know I've said it many many times, but periodically there are questions about it.)

Definitely confusing! Armando, in #1 above - is that a typo? Or is that how copying/pasting is done in IQ?

Ctrl+X cuts selected content and Ctrl+C copies selected content. Ctrl+V normally pastes previously copied content.(In any Windows application that I have used). It looks like you are using Ctrl+C for pasting in #1.

Can you clarify?

Yes, it was a typo... sorry guys. I meant ctrl-x (or ctrl-c if you only want to copy) and then ctrl-v to paste.
