There's a "read only" option in the fields management dialog.

I thought that read only only prevented user to manually populate the field, but I just realized that not even an "in field" equation will write to the field when "Read only" is ON...

I'm surprised. Has it always been working this way ? And how can I only block manual user entries in a field but allow normal equations
operations ?

(I have a few fields with a "= anotherfield" equation (mainly for fields that had changed names without me being aware of it and I didn't want to transfer all the data... for equations reasons, etc.))

You're right. This is wrong. If it is read-only, how could values be assigned! I fixed it. Read-only prevents user editing, but equations can still write values.

Thanks
