08/07/09 02:23 pm tested again using <CTRL>+<:LEFT><CLICK> + drag / drop onto 2nd TLI .  Sub item w html data was created.
However,
It was impossible for me to find the scroll point in the 2nd grid
After pasting to new location, all grid 2 items collapsed & focus jumped to first TLI in grid

IQ was able to do what I wanted, i.e. create a 2nd parent for a single item

Steps I took:

In grid 1
click focus on # col for item I want to copy
right click copy xml item (no sub-tems)
select grid 2
click focus on # col of parent I want to copy to
context menu paste
all items in grid collapse to TLI & no copy is made

Alternate steps I tried
in grid 2
created a new child under appropriate TLI
context menu paste
all items in grid collapse to TLI & no copy is made

Alternate steps tried:
in grid 1 <CTRL><LEFT><CLICK> drag item
to grid 2 tried to scroll down to TLI I wanted to create child for
IQ wouldn't scroll

Alternate steps tried (as a test)
in grid 1
context menu paste
3 replicated items were pasted in grid 1 w appropriate html data

It appeared to me that IQ couldn't clear / dump clipboard contents in grid 2
It appeared that the scroll issue is back

Thank you.

<CTRL>+<:LEFT><CLICK> + drag / drop onto 2nd TLI  -->  does not copy but will allow an item to have/"be linked to" another parent.

??  do you mean that there's no auto scroll  when putting the mouse cursor at the edge of the grid (top or bottom) ?? This works fine here while using drag drop. (using he latest build)

Jan : are you talking about drag & drop or copy / paste ? these are different and without the proper terminology, it's hard to answer questions properly.

this is because you've probably copied a sub-item that doesn,t meet the source (this one of these unintuitive unuserfriendly aspects of IQs copy/paste functionality). However, if you look at your journal grif, chances are you'll see that your copied item exists.
