Drag drop file to grid:

in the dialog box,
If I select the first option "Add file link to current item (static hyperlink)" the options in lower part of box are greyed out
if "Dynamic Hyperlink" is already selected (under "Item Hyperlink" - which it is by default I believe)
A dynamic hyperlink is made instead of a static one. This doesnt work if the item already has a hyperlink.

ie the first "What do I want to do" option should override the other hyperlink options but it doesnt

The book page: Link to Files, Folders and URLs documents this feature[/quote]
Bug I think:

if I turn this off in options 1.3.6, dialog box should still show if I press Shift when dragging file onto Grid (correct?)
This doesnt work here -
i.e.
no Dialog box shows when I press Shift when dragging file onto Grid

A small issue with the file links facility (which overall is wonderful!) - when the user drags and drops a file from a file manager, an Item name is created which starts with (that is, is prefixed by) the short name of the file (which is the terminal part of the full file name, without the extension / file type). The item name continues with the full file name. So far, so good and so very sensible! However, if the user drags and drops several filenames at the same time, the Item name created for each item starts with the prefix of the first file so dropped. So several items with rather similar names are created. Further, this behaviour seems to be "sticky", that is, if later you drop more filenames, the same prefix as before is used.

(me, I havent had the same problem here so I'm wondering if it's to do with settings I'm not using)

Duh...

So once again I show that I'm a bit of an idiot!

I had some text in the Item Text box which was the terminal name of the previous file I added, and that was being added to the File Path and File Name - whence the entirely correct behaviour I described earlier. Ho hum, engage brain before mouth (or keyboard), Mark...

Thanks for pressing me on the point, Tom.

Mantis #760 updated:

"this is no longer a problem but it does now act in a quirky manner that's presumably a bug:

if the first option is selected (add link to *current* item) you are no longer able to change the selection in the Hyperlink section -
if 'Dynamic' was already selected, the option 'None' in the File link section is greyed out; - if 'Static' was already selected, the option 'None' is available -
I havent used the 'None' option myself (I just came across this when wanting to update the manual page) but I presume the option should either be available or not ?
