When I open and use the manage forms pane, then close it, then re-open it, it is totally blank. This is repeatable on alll my computers (XP, Vista, 7). The only way to regain accesss to the pane is to close and re-start IQ. Needless to say, this is a pane pain!

P.S. I have seen this on 25C and 25D. I don't know if it happened with other releases.

EDIT: Update - I tested this some more. The described behavior sometimes occurs with the sample database. It always occurs with the databases I have created. Point is, it should not happen at all.

Hi Jon,

I'll try to recreate the issue (it works for me now) and will fix it. In the meantime, perhaps, instead of closing the form, you can just collapse it (click on the thumbnail)

Thank you Pierre.

Jon, Are you finding these events (loosely display issues) to be more prevalent on Win7 machine?

I do & have reported them in various threads but nobody seems to believe it's a problem of some sort as it works on their non-win7 machines. Very hard to track down. I'll be curious to see how this one evolves.

BTW, I don't believe Pierre is working on a Win7 machine.  I don't know about the other resident expert, Armando.

Pierre:

I have been able to duplicate the problem on all databases, including the sample database, and on all platforms. Here is how.

1. Have the proerties pane displayed and docked. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, but that is my setup.
2. Tools | Manage Forms
3. Enter a name for a new form.
4. Add one or two fields to the new form. It does not seem to matter the number or the type.
5. The Auto close box should be ticked. Click apply, and the panel closes.
6. Repeat step 2. See? The panel is blank.

Jan:

I am not sure. While I have different machines running XP, Vista and 7, the majority of my computing time is spent on the Vista and 7 machines. So I would expect more problems to be uncovered on these machines, but not necessarily attributable to  the OS. That is why I go back to the XP machine and check. In this case, all three OS's demonstrate the identical problem. You also seem to push IQ more than I. My experience with UR caused a lot of complaining from me over performance issues, but that was because my database (at the time) was over 500MB. My UR database is now pushing 1GB, and it is responsive. So I was doing to UR what you do to IQ - I think.
