Title says it all.

start and end Dates are :
2010 11 01    and  2010 11 02

And the gantt shows a bar going from the beginning of 2010 11 01 to the beginning of  2010 11 03

It wasn't like that before.

(Guess I'm discovering all these bugs today  because I haven't been using the gantt for a whole month. Actually, haven't been using IQ as much for all kinds of reasons -- health, other occupations, etc.)

Correct, this was changed, but isn't this the correct way ? If you start the 1st and complete the 2nd, it has taken you 2 days...

IMO, it should stay as it was before as the numbers should be clearly reflected :

Duration =  1 (day) --> gantt should show a duration of 1 day, not 2.

Days 1 --> 00:00:00 , until day 2  --> 00:00:00, this is one  day, not 2.

Otherwise, it becomes very complicated. I'll have to recalculate everything in hours, and make sure all TaskActEnd ends at 23:59:59 to make sure I see things clearly.

I don't know how other software treat that situation, but it seems pretty awkward to me.

I'd be interesting to see

Wouldn't this make sense:
  1. If no time is specified, whole days are assumed, so start 2010-10-25 and stop 2010-10-25 should could as 1 day
  2. If times are specified, then actual time diff is used
I've been doing some project management stuff recently and this way of doing seemed much more intuitive (i.e. when you see a task ending on 2010-10-27, you expect it to end at the end of the day, not at midnight) Notice in this example, how the grid display of dates and the Gantt match nicely. When I see something starting the 22nd and ending the 24th, I conclude it last 3 days, not 2

If you have an example where the previous way is required, I'll add a user option.

I think that users should be made aware of these changes before they're implemented as they can have big consequences.

----

That said, I understand your point and I think MS project somewhat implements it that way -- but doesn't it warn the user or something ??  Even if to me there's somewhat a problem if duration  = 1 (or less) and gantt shows 2.

When I see start = 2010 11 01 and end  = 2010 11 01, I think of task without duration. They shown with a black losange, but I don't use these in the gantt as they can't be associate with an effort value, which usually makes it pointless to me.

Leave it this way, I guess. I won't mind any functional and logical system.... If I can know before implementation how it will affect all my functions.

Thanks

In v0.9.25E, I've back-tracked and returned to the way it was originally. There were just too many issues.

Sorry about the "change" followed by the "unchange"
