I can't tell you what a relief this is for someone like me who probably would have been diagnosed ADD GHIJKL & M had they known about it 60 yrs ago. :-)

So whether I'm at my desk, in my little office, in the house, on the road, etc., I have synced a bunch of stuff.

IQ is not one of them altho I know Pierre is hard at work on google / IQ calendar sync (which will be extremely helpful)

Some thoughts

Android has overtaken Apple iPhone

so it definitely has eclipsed MS phone

how / what could / would be IQ's future in Android -- if any?

I just offer this up for discussion as my guess is that Android will be dominate (mobile OS) for some time to come

Anyone w any thoughts / comments on this as it applies to IQ?

Not trying to make MORE trouble for Pierre.

Hi Jan,

Thanks for bringing up the subject. For "most users", IQ is:

Calendar
Contacts
Tasks
Outliner with columns (1-pane Ecco-like)
Outliner with rich text (2-pane URp-like)

Google Calendar sync is progressing very well which will be followed with Contacts and Tasks. This will handle the first 3 items of this list.

The remaining big chunk is identifying compatible outlining apps and if none can be found, then building a dedicated outlining+columns+rich text app.

As usual your observations are right on target AFAIC. I wonder whether google docs might work as some kind of RTF gateway.....

Of course when I have my laptop w me, I love using IQ via dropbox which works like a charm.

I'm not sure about Google Doc, but here is an idea I just had... :

The HTML pane can have embedded or linked content. At anytime, you can convert between these. Linked content is currently saved as ItemIDXXXX.htm (or .mht). What if :

You had the option to have a more meaningful file names for the linked content, i.e. same as the item text (whenever possible).
Conflicting names could have the format parent_itemname or itemnameXYZ
Now, if you're using a Dropbox folder for your IQBase, then you could have mobile access to your rich text content

I think this is a great idea.

Plus :

I often have the reflex to access these files using other software (find and run robot, everything, windows search...), but their coded names makes it very unfriendly... And when many MS word files are opened, finding the right ItemID982398.MHT is a bit challenging... :)

Hmmm. This sounds very neat but I have to think about it a little just because I have to absorb how it would work on a practical basis. I'll probably be back w a few questions. Thanks for even considering this, Pierre. You need another IQ project like you need a hole in the head (an American saying) :-)
