Hi,

I'm working on the visuals of the Calendar window. The initial thought was to reproduce that of the Google Calendar with, namely:
  1. Left pane, fixed width containing:
    1. Top-left: small month view
    2. Below-left: List of calendars (see details below)
  2. Right pane:Main calendar section would be the same as the current calendar, except supprting multiple columns in day-view (see details below)

List of calendars (item 1.2)

The IQ Calendar has a feature that Google Cal does not, which is that it can have more than one column per day when in dayview. So the section with the list of calendars could be like shown below.

Suppose my Google Calendar has 6 calendars (2 of which are mine, the rest belong to others, some of which I can modify, others are managed exclusively by someone else). In Google Calendar, I can turn these on-off as you wish, but all shown in the same column

Here, the IQ calendar is setup to be able to show 3 columns (home, work and combined), but only home and work columns are shown. The home column shows my personal calendar and my wife's, but not the kids. The work column shows my work calendar and the meetings one. As for the combined column it would show 5 calendars.
  • x  Home
    • x  Me
    • x  Wife
    •     Kids
  • x  Work
    • x  Work
    • x  Meetings
    •     Boss
  •    Combined
    • x  Me
    • x  Wife
    • x  Kids
    • x  Work
    • x  Meetings

Hi Pierre,
This sounds really good ! I like your Google calendar suggestions and for now I don't really see the necessity to add anything special to it.
However, if possible, maybe a few screenshots illustrating the "multiple column per day" concept described above would help having a clearer idea of what you have in mind.
Thanks ! :)

Pierre, this sounds good.  Just thinking out loud here.
I think there's going to be wasted real estate in the left pane.
I would turn it into two panes divided horizontally
:
Pane #1 list of calendars (add via option)
Pane #2 ToDo List that syncs with user date selection (also via option)

I realize, IQ also has ToDo items which can appear in calendar & they will eventually synch w Google but I'm thinking about those of us who can use smart phones or tablets to add  todo's & appts that also synch w google. I doubt I will have IQ on my smart phone or tablet for a while so this would be a good way to consolidate with IQ from the road.

Example on the road I use an android app called Jorte. It automatically synchs events & todo's w Google periodically so when I get to my home computer, it's all in one place. Right now that one place is Google but I would prefer it to be IQ.

BTW, when can we expect the new calendar so we can start testing ?
