Agreed, 131 licenses does not a business make. To be viable, the number should far exceed 1000 users. However, consider that Pierre has never actually released the product, so we contributors are playing a "hunch" and gambling with our purchases/donations. Most users are not as trusting or willing as we are; not that they don't see value in the product, but they're comfortable waiting in the wings right now.
I believe that it is imperative that Pierre finalize a "stable, feature-locked" version. Stop adding new features and fix what is there. If it is "unfixable" at this point, then drop the feature. Once stable,Pierre should update his website to be marketing-focused and to appeal to the masses (ala the new sites for MyInfo, MyNotesKeeper, etc.), and then focus on offering great support (documentation, movies, etc.) for new users in order to develop a healthy customer base. An infinite beta can never work financially. It's time to release and receive! (Obviously, I'm somewhat biased as an e-commerce marketing professor <grin>.)
Bottom line: We need to get the product into the hands of paying users.
