Thought I may as well start a thread seeing as there's a few related comments scattered around the place...

I like the new [ + ] and [ - ] symbols used for items with subs.
They are improved in the latest build (W10).
I also like the contrast between the [ + ] symbol (emphasised) and the [ - ] symbol ( ...what's the opposite of emphasised )

The [ - ] symbol is however a bit lost at times, especially with coloured items

OTOH, the + symbol is too strong IMO

Ideas:
  1. Reduce the strength of the [ + ] symbol - maybe by making the arms shorter
  2. Emphasise the [ - ] symbol a bit more - maybe by giving it a one pixel outline (maybe just a "shadow" outline - below & on the right could look good)

Agree that the [-] button is not visible enough

Regarding colors, you know that you can limit the item back color to specific columns ?

Starting v0.9.25W10, users can use their own icons for the expand buttons. Any icon editor will do. The files are
  • plus.ico
  • minus.ico
  • plus-print.ico
  • minus-print.ico
The "print" icons can be identical to screen ones. However, to look good, the screen icons should have a transparent background. These icons look good on regular printers but appear as a black square when printing to a PDF printer (we've tried many drivers and they all have this issue).

So, if you plan to print to a PDF printer, make sure your "print" icons have a white background.
