The manual states: "Group Columns: Select 2 or more columns to group them."
How do I do that?

1) Select columns you want to group

Note: you don't have to select the full column.  For example, hold down shift, select cell in left-most column, select cell in right-most column.

2a) Column Menu>Header>Group columns (or right-click column header>header>group)

I'll give you my way of looking at it, for what it's worth. 

There have been plenty of times where I had trouble figuring something out and started getting frustrated because I couldn't immediately find an answer in the manual. 

Times like this, I remind myself that this is an extremely powerful program and with that comes a fair degree of complexity that just has to be worked through patiently over time.  If you stick with it, it is well worth it.

I keep a personal user manual where I log how to do things in my own words.  I've found that to be very helpful and gives me a feeling of making progress as I work through problems.
