Hi IQUsers,

Long time user Al has asked for this, years ago. Would anybody else also be interested in a working Calendar year view ?
  • Month columns can be individually resized
  • Focused column wordwraps
  • Scrolling with fixed header (up-down, left-right)
  • Multiple event per day, with wordwrap
  • Each event is a hyperlink.
    • Click the hyperlink would show the item info in the properties pane and the event info in the notifications pane
    • Right-click would edit the event (i.e. view the event details)
  • Event recurrence is handled correctly
  • [edit] User can select the number of months to view (as such, it may be more suitably called "linear month view" [/edit]
  • Prints in portrait or landscape mode
(flash is attached to this post)

Comments

This display has the month days aligned (1,2,3, etc.)

An alternate view is of course possible... with day of the week aligned (i.e. the first monday of each month would be on the same row)

It may be easier to read

This would be extremely useful (especially with printing!). Would this be part of the near-term calendar update, or something farther out?  Either way would be great.

v0.9.26 is all about the Calendar  ...

Hi Pierre
Great memory. Below is the Excel version of what I currently use. The calendar could scroll off the screen in online mode but must print on a single page. What would really be cool is if I could put a "/" in a box to schedule it to a week with a single mouse click, and say double click and get an "x" to show it was completed. Just some easy way to schedule and mark complete, of course could just type a "/" or "x". The key is a one page printout of a yearly calendar.

+1 Very Nice Display!

However, I'm still looking for a way to display the "Year" in Calendar view. And, even in this new view, the year is not displayed.

Am I missing a display option somewhere?
Thanks,
Glen

Hi Glen !

Isn't this a year view ? Do you have a screenshot of what would be your ideal year view ?

Sorry, Pierre, but I mean the actual year "2010" or "2011" -- Hope that clarifies.

No, unless I'm missing something too, it's not yet implemented.  I think Pierre was trying to determine if there was interest in a year view.

Exactly and also, if the suggested display was the best. Comments anyone ?

What Glen may have meant was that "2010" doesn't show anywhere on the view, i.e. how do I know I'm looking at 2010, and not 2009 or 2011?
Could the year picked, say "2010" show to the left of janvier?

A feature in Ecco I use regularly is the ability to create and log an appointment. In the calendar click the "Tile Calendar and Phonebook" button, a split screen of phonebook and daily calendar is shown. 1) I search for name and drag it to appointment time 2) the appointment date is automatically logged as sub-item to the name 3) click "Tile" button again to return to monthly calendar. If I know I have an appointment far out in time, but can't remember when, all I have to do is go to the phonebook name to find the date of the appointment instead of searching through all of the months looking for the appointment. I personally would like the option to only bring the date over not the time.

Not the same thing but I assume you know that if:
you create sub-item for an address book entry & give it an Appt date & time (show in calendar), it will appear in the calendar as well as under the AB name as a sub-item
Pierre may well be working on something like what you have in Ecco but in the meantime, the above may work for you.

Is there field I'm suppose to check to have appointment show in calendar?

If you create the event using the Calendar with the appointment field, it will automatically show of course.

Otherwise, when you click to change the date, F2 to show the calendar, there is a button "Show in the Calendar"

You can also select multiple appointment dates and right-click >> create Event

Much like Ecco, any date can be shown in the Calendar. In v0.9.26, items will be able to appear for multiple dates, same as in Ecco.

Not sure where to press F2. I'm adding a sub-item from a name in the phonebook to the calendar, right?

Drag-drop from a contact to the calendar will eventually be supported, for now, you can:
  1. Create a sub-item below the contact
  2. Right-click on this sub-item >> Create event
  3. Set the date if you want. If you find it too cumbersome to set it there, you can
    1. Leave the default date and click OK
    2. Open the Calendar
    3. Move/size the event

HTH

p.s. v0.9.26 is all about the Calendar, so expect many improvements soon.

That works great, thanks, I might even like it better than doing it the other way. But I guess it is nice to have both options.

Just loaded version B, the alternating of colors from month to month is really helpful to figure out what month I'm looking at, thanks. It looks like you changed some of the coloring for the current date also, Today, once again I was always having trouble quickly getting oriented back to today when I was moving around the calendar (I always use the monthly calendar), much easier.

Thanks much.
Al
