I remember them being archived so people could still look at them, but now I can't find them.  Are they still around?

Thanks.  Can't find what I am looking for.  I was trying to find something because in the past when discussion of the feature I am about to ask about would come up there would often be some confusion about what was being requested and there were some mock screen shots in some of the old threads.  Anyhow, the feature request below was supported by many here, and I am curious if it is on the road map?

Ability to have "grids and sub-grids".  That very description is likely to cause confusion, and may not be technically correct, which is why I was searching for the old threads, but what I basically mean is the ability to "outline" grids, for example I might have a grid named "Books" that when I clicked on it showed additional grids such as "non-fiction", "fiction" and so forth.  The problem for some of us is that with the current setup it is necessary for us to have many more grids than we care to, versus if we could just categorize them into grids and sub-grids in a way that is meaningful to use as users.  In a nutshell, for those familiar with Microsoft OneNote, I want to be able to have grids and subgrids in the same way that I can have notebook sections and sub-sections in OneNote.

I should note it's possible that something like this has already been implemented and I just don't know about it.

For most uses, a grid is basically a filter showing a sub-set of items and a set of fields shown as column.

These sub-grids, would they have the same columns? , if yes, filters can easily do that, either grid filters, column filters (simpler UI). The Sort Bar can also perform Outlook-like grouping

Pierre, this is why I was looking for the old thread, in the past when the subject would come up you would misinterpret the question because I am not using the proper lingo.  If Armando is still here and he reads this he will immediately know what I am referring to :-).  I just want a UI method of grouping/categorizing *grids*.  I am not talking about manipulating views within the "main writing area" or whatever the correct term is for the main pane where all the items are shown.  I want to manipulate grids so I can group them in categories.  For instance if I clicked on the grids icon on the toolbar, I would like to be able to see a "grid" (or grid category) named "Books", then that could expand to show a "non-fiction" grid and a "fiction" grid.  Make sense?

Of course I'm still here... ;)
And of course I know what you're talking about.
Those of us who like to have a whole  variety of grids need a more sophisticated grid menu.
Filters are no substitute. Why ? Because :

1- we don't use grids just to see items, but also to put them in a specific context of columns, conditional formatting, etc.
2- there's no way we can use only a few grids and have fun resetting  columns and formats all the time.

Mantis :

Update Issue0939 Tree view of grids  Suggestionfeaturenew

And

Update Issue0150 An enhanced "Grids" menu/button to open grids more quickly

BTW, I very much hope to see both of those implemented, it's not only important to have the hierarchy, but a pane that could be permanently docked displaying the tree view would be invaluable.  OK, so by searching the road map I see that neither of those are on it.  When I look individual items in Mantis, like the ones you linked to, is there any way to see if they are on the road map other than by going to the road map and searching for them?  I don't seem to see any fields on the item view that tells me it is on if it is on the road map.
