Problem with web links

Submitted by david1904 on 2011/01/18 18:14
I have just downloaded 25i and now find that the web links no longer work in Infoqube. They show up in the html pane in blue just as before. When I hover over the link the cursor shows as usual. If I press click the cursor turns to a little hand - just as it used to.
However, when I click on the link I get a message saying Windows can't open this file ... what do you want to do? Use the web service to find,,,, Select a program from a list of installed programs (which doesn't even show firefox (my longtime default browser).
In all the previous versions I have downloaded this has never been a problem.
Does anybody know a) why this has now occurred and b) how do I fix it.

Thanks,
David

Properties pane docking

Submitted by Al on 2011/01/15 20:40
I have always had my properties paned showing with my grids, but not the calendar. I was playing around with IQ features recently and in turning things on and off, my properties pane shows when my monthly calendar view is displayed. How do I only show my properties pane with the non-monthly calendar grids?

Merge values

Submitted by Jon on 2011/01/14 10:43

I want to copy all of the values from one column to another. Ecco has an easy and useful feature called "Merge folder values." I don't think IQ has anything like that, but I imagine it could be implemented using an auto assign equation. My question is how?

Thanks.

EccoPro user wishes InfoQube could export data and structure to any popular database

Submitted by vicente95650 on 2011/01/10 18:14
I finally decided to try InfoQube by importing my EccoPro data (a 14MB file). I had been looking for a front-end to a robust database (MySQL) that provided EccoPro-like functionality and when I realized that InfoQube used an embedded database instead,  I was somewhat disappointed.

I have been a continuous and very satisfied user of EccoPro since its debut many years ago,  and have had to deal with its limitations because I have not found a suitable replacement.

I was pleasantly surprised to find all my data was imported, including the structure.
I am still learning the user interface, but my initial impression is very good.

There was only one "glitch" that I could not explain :

Outline readability (M)

Submitted by Jon on 2011/01/09 15:49
Because of a number of situations, I must continue to use Ecco Pro and IQ, sometimes side-by-side. The difference in the readability of the outlines is striking. I find that the relationship of an item to the overall outline is much easier to see in Ecco than in IQ. This is especially true when I have zoomed the outline a few times.  I have tried using the tree lines in IQ, but is is minimally better. While I realize that screen real estate would be "wasted," is it possible to adjust the amount IQ indents each level? By the way, I can see the argument for outline styles here, as that would be a good visual indicator. However, it is not the same thing, and can add to the visual clutter.

Just a personal opinion - others may feel very different.

Import of text files (M)

Submitted by KeithB on 2011/01/09 12:38
I would like to suggest soon giving IQ the capability of importing .txt files directly into individual items, with an option to put them totally in the grid, or the first line in the grid, and the content in HTML.  I see there's an old Mantis item 0179 requesting this.

It seems like a basic type of import, than would be valuable to IQ's image  (and personally, I'm trying to quickly import tiddlywiki type of items into IQ, and I can get an export of txt files from there.)

Are there any technical issues that makes this a large job? I ask this, because an ancient forum post implied it would be easy via xml.

Clipper- have option to put text in item, rather than the html pane

Submitted by KeithB on 2011/01/09 12:21
I'd like to see some kind of mechanism added to the WIN-c clipper, to enabling putting copied content into the "Item text" instead of in the html pane.

For my purposes, I've moving more and more to modest amounts of text in the grid only, and only using the html pane for a large amount of content.

Therefore, most of the time, I'll do web captures by selecting a paragraph or two, without pictures; i then have to manually copy and paste the html area content into the Item Text box.

Copying to IQ from other outliners

Submitted by Jon on 2011/01/05 16:30
Perhaps someone here can offer some advice. I would like to copy from another outliner (Ecco with or without Ecco Extension, NoteMap, Brainstorm, etc.) I have developed a work-around that is too involved to do routinely. How can I easily copy and paste an outline into IQ and maintain the structure? I can do this between every other outliner, but not IQ. (EDIT: I should qualify that last statement. I cannot get the structure into IQ, but I can copy/paste it out)
