Is there a limit on number of items imported via a CSV text file ?

Submitted by Tom on 2011/03/31 12:40

CSV text file, tab seperated, no text markers
There are 1594 entries

When I import, I choose correct settings, including deselecting "First row contains field names".
I give each column a field

In step 2 of the import it says, 1 to 635
It imports 635 entries - they are imported correctly but no sign of the rest **- If I change the number to 1594 (actual number of entries) or 1600 there is no difference.

** Two blank items are imported - so it actually only imports 633 entries.

I've had a look at the CSV file in text editor but find no problem (but I'm not an expert).

I've tried this also in the sample file using creating fields for the columns.
Any ideas?

(I could send someone the text file but I wouldnt want to post it here)

"Nomenclature Discrepancy" Page in the manual - discuss things in page?

Submitted by Tom on 2011/03/31 04:30

Armando created a new manual page where we can add discrepancies in the naming of things within IQ

I added the idea there that we could give opinions within the page, and maybe a little discussion, also within the page. Logic being that posting comments in manual pages may possibly be disabled - also a lot of comments would be moot after a while as IQ get update.

If you think it's a better idea to do this kind of thing in the forum.

New User "Gotcha" list

(Please note it's possible to create Mantis issues for any item in the list,  if needed...)

- HTML pane seems to be write protected:   Can't edit...editor seems write protected - (this related to confusion with browse mode) [Davet]

- Selecting columns has been a real gotcha for me in InfoQube...it still is. Select columns really is used in two contexts: 1) to add and remove columns to the outline, and 2) to literally select the column in a table.

Can still use column sorting when sort bar isn't activated.

This bug defeats the purpose of the "sort protection mechanism" (i.e. to turn on sortbar to activate the "column header sorting").

So it's still possible to inadvertently resort a grid and make dangerous mistakes by clicking on a header + it makes a ctrl-click on column headers (for column selection, let's say to print...) tricky at best.

[How do I] Pop Up Lists

Very good how-to for Auto List of Values!

Unfortunately, I cannot figure out any thing else from the posting.

I have the following two grids:

Grid named ZipCode.
Item is the "the zip code", with City and State fields.

Grid named Addresses.
Item is "the name", with Street, City, State and Zip fields.

When filling in the Addresses grid, I would like a pop-up to pull from the ZipCode grid, and fill in the City, State, and Zip fields.
I have tried to just get the Zip field to fill-in without success.
The example says to put in the "fields editor" - Item as ZipCode.  I have tried that and as ZipCode, and

Block commenting in the books/manual ?

Submitted by Armando on 2011/03/29 12:58
I don't know about others... but I find the comments in the books/manual annoying -- they are often not up to date and I'm sure they distract new users from the actual "manual content". Plus, the division between the manual and the comments isn't that clear. Could we block commenting in the books and encourage users to ask questions in the forum instead ? (suggestion) thanks.

making item a child removing it from the current grid

Submitted by reesd on 2011/03/28 12:17
I am seeing some weirdness that I was hoping someone could help me track down. When I make an item a child (from TLI to SLI) it is removed from the current grid. When I move it back to being a TLI it's added back to the grid. I don't see this in a blank library, but I can't figure out what in my library is causing this different behavior. It happens across all of my grids, so its not an equation on the grid field that is causing the problem.

Below is what I am seeing in screen shots.

Can anyone point me at what is causing this?
