Smart Folders/Fields (Query Equations) - discussion and doc change suggestions

So I spent the evening trying to figure out "smart folders" (see Smart Fields), which I will call Query Equations for the rest of this post.

I'll start on the doc itself, it started as a blog post and I think it's time to update it :). I think we need to rework this page in the context of the equations pages and equations in general. Also, some of it duplicates concepts that are now covered better elsewhere like field/folders, grids, and wikitags, Also, many of the examples I think are better (or at least more easily) done as row equations, so I think we need to be clear why they would go the next level to use these.

In terms of terminology, smart folder/field now overlaps too much with all the other equations. Perhaps we could call these "Query Equations" to just ensure they are grouped with all the other ways that fields can get their values?

Cloning Problem? (M)

When cloning goals from a Project grid to a Goals grid I get unexpected results.

  1. I get one result before a refresh and a different result after the refresh. Is this normal? (Answer turned out to be NO. So, I reported this in Mantis. Ref: http://mantis.sqlnotes.net/view.php?id=1126)
  2. After the refresh a comparison between InfoQube and ECCO is different. Is this normal? (Answer turned out to be YES)

Sorry for wandering mouse in the video. I don't know why that is happening. I did not record it that way.

Having trouble with 2.05 Your First Steps tutorial

After making the above video and uploading it, I went back to IQ and looked at a sample database. In that database, I saw that there is a Done field and a Urgency field. So I added those fields to my database, and now I can mark things as Done okay. So it looks like the tutorial is going to have to show adding those fields if a blank database is used in the tutorial.

arrange fields in properties pane via keyboard? (M)

Still quite a noob here.  Did an import from an Ecco file, which went well, except the hierarchy of folders in my Ecco files was not replicated in Infoqube's list of fields in the Properties pane tree view.

I see where I arrange the items in a hierachy using drag and drop, and also I see where I can assign a Parent ID in the Field Properties dialog.
