InfoQube version S  was working this morning.

(Was checking out old routers this afternoon - system returned to operational status.)
All system functions are normal EXCEPT InfoQube.

Tried to launch InfoQube this evening.  CPU went to 99% activity against InfoQube.exe, but InfoQube would not come up.  System was sluggish but other applications would function, and internet access OK.
Terminated task.  Uninstalled InfoQube version S.

Installed version T.  Rebooted PC.  Same problem.  InfoQube is utilizing CPU at 99% but accomplishing nothing.

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're having some issues. I haven't seem this before. If using the installed flavor, please try the portable one to see.
Some users have reported issues with IE9. WARNING: DO NOT INSTALL IE9

This is an XP machine, so it will not take IE9.
IE8 is installed.

I have not used the IQ Portable yet.

My next step is to save the IQ bases to another folder.
Uninstall IQ.
Then ensure the registry is cleared of reference to IQ, and all IQ folders are removed.
Following an new install, IQ will need to create all the files again, and maybe that will tell us something.

I did install Dropbox yesterday, but why that would interfere, I do not know.
I'll post results later.

Mike.

Uninstalling IQ will do no harm. However, You should really try the portable version as there are not many benefits to the installable one -- unless you really need to have IQ to be registered etc.

Dropbox shouldn't interfere. I use dropbox constantly. But is your whole IQ installation in dropbox ?

Dropbox was just installed.  Had nothing to do with InfoQube, but thought I would mention it.

OK, got InfoQube reinstalled after an uninstallation, deleted folders, and removed mention of InfoQube from registry.
InfoQube now functional.

The solution was one or both of registry cleanup and deletion of the InfoQube data folder.  I was able to recover my previous IQ database, fortunately it was not the active IB as I had a blank IB with default data.

I did not know the details of the portable version over the installed version, so I have always used the installed version.
Does the portable one have to be on a portable drive, or can it be on the hard disk?

Good to hear that you sorted out your problem !

The portable version can be put anywhere you want. However, on windows 7 (Vista?), I believe it's not recommended to put it in a system folder (e.g. : program files). Just put it anywhere else. You can move it whenever you want.

The DB is completely independent from the program. It too can be placed wherever you want, but the folder containing linked files (*\yourDBname.SNDB.Files) should also be moved with it.
