After making the above video and uploading it, I went back to IQ and looked at a sample database. In that database, I saw that there is a Done field and a Urgency field. So I added those fields to my database, and now I can mark things as Done okay. So it looks like the tutorial is going to have to show adding those fields if a blank database is used in the tutorial.

yes, it's hard to keep the manual and modifications/additions to IQ in sync...
BTW : are you working with a completely blank DB or are you starting from the sample ? It's a really good idea to just start using the sample instead of using a completely blank DB. A blank DB is good for advanced users (and even then,,,), but not to learn how to use IQ. There are too many things to know to be able to structure a DB properly + there are many useful things in the sample.

A good approach is start from a sample, and slowly get rid of stuff you don't need as you progress. I think this is suggested in the manual too. I'll have to check.

I just double checked and the manual clearly states that the tutorial is from a sample DB :

"If you haven't created a Database yet, then click on File -> New (New IQBase with sample data).  Give it a name."

I'll highlight that to make it even more visible.

Hi Armando,

I did start with the Sample Database. However, under section 2.05 Your First Steps, you delete all the fields. I mentioned that in the video. That's why things made no sense...I thought why not just start with a blank database if that is what you want to use.

It'll need quite a bit of cleanup for Version 1.0!  Remember that tutorial was written in 2009,-a lot has changed in IQ since 2009.
I don't think anyone's kept up the tutorial in the manual. I don't have a lot of time right now, but I'll get back into the manual soon hopefully.

Hi Keith ! Good to see you around :)
Yup... That was written a long time ago. You and Jerome were the main contributors I believe.
