Hyperlink to pdf file from HTML pane

Submitted by jsolka on 2011/07/05 12:11
Hi,
I was trying to create a hyperlink from HTML panel to a pdf file. When I clicked the link, I got the dialogue box to choose the program (I chose suggested Adobe Reader), but then getn an error msg:
"There was an error opening this document. The filename, directoryname, or volume label syntax is incorrect."
I can open this file from Windows Explorer with no problem.

BTW, that's what's in the "hyperlink" window:
file:///C:/Documents%20and%20Settings/jays/Desktop/4DAlwaysIQ/JayWorkIQLinks/modularArts%20BLOCK.pdf

Thanks

hi Jay, I wonder why it shows the 'Open With' dialog?
Found it:
in Options #1.5.6 "Show open with..."

Maybe try deselecting that, and see if it works then -
it's a workaround if you want the "open with" dialogue (but it would also show the extent of the problem)

EDIT/ the problem is with "open with" - I dont even get as far as the error message - Adobe Acrobat uses all the cpu it can and eventually I closed the open with dialog. I mistakenly clicked enter with the cursor in the link it tried to open again - had to kill IQ & Acrobat....

EDIT2 - the problem seems to be only with Adobe Acrobat (or maybe just PDFs)

Thanks Tom,
This option was deselected.
BTW the problem is not only with pdf, as I find out today, the same think happens with Excel files, same dialogue, same error msg.

Cheers,
Jay

Update -- found it --  the problem is with the version (in this case it's 0.9.25N) it works with my older version (0.9.25C)
