Self explanatory. I get as far as naming the file, the click open. IQ just disappears.
 
EDIT: OK, I found the culprit. Do a fresh install. The first time IQ opens with no file loaded. I remove the html pane by closing it (never use it). Now, try the steps I outlined. See? No IQ. I can successfully create a new file IF the html pane remains open. I can then close it.

Update:
I have removed all traces of IQ from the computer (including registry references). A fresh re-install seems to have cured the problem.

You may want to try the portable version, it is more independant of an installer and is used by more users...

This was with the portable version. It is what I always use.

Just for the record, I wasn't able to reproduce the problem.
 
I always just drag and drop the new IQ files (from the zip archive) to my current "IQ portable" folder without any problems. I just let it replace all files with the new ones.
 
I also never cleaned the registry of any previous installation.
