Search (Ctrl-F) will search all text fields, including the HTML pane
Using advanced search, you can specify to search in specific fields
Within the HTML pane, Ctrl-F will open a typical search window, to search in the current document

Thanks Pierre but just to clarify: <ctrl>F will search html pane because it considers it text as well as item?

Hi Jan,

The HTML content is stored in the ItemHTML text field. The text version of this HTML is stored in the ItemHTMLText field.

In IQ, you can have many text fields. The Item field and the HTML field are "just" text fields (with some special handling). So when you do a search (regular live text search), all text fields are searched. For the HTML, it is not the actual HTML code which is searched, but the text version, stored in the field ItemHTMLText.

You refer to regular live text search. I assume you are referring to <ctrl>F. If that's the case what does a user do in advanced search to find some text that could be part of an item or ItemHTMLText?

In advanced search, you have the following UI:

Search: enter terms, supports and, or
Select if searching text, numbers, dates
Enter fields to search (comma delimited) or leave blank to search all field of the chosen type
Source view: should the results be limited to items in a given grid
Results in: Choose where you want the results displayed or leave blank to use the search grid
