-- something like the mantis synching, I guess.

What I'd like to do is to share an IQ database hosted on the net with 1 or or more co-workers. It would have to be possible to sync changes both ways : from the "client" to the "server" and from the server to the "client".

Is there a way to do that relatively "easily" ?

(I was also thinking of using a wiki, but... No hierarchies, not enough fields, etc. There might be solutions that I don't know about... If anybody has any ideas... Thanks a lot.)

Not possible now (unless you set up a VPN and are willing to suffer some performance penalty). It is planned however

I see. Thanks!
Will try to figure out a wiki way of some sort... Maybe using the html export, etc.

Have you considered using DropBox? As long as you're only 1 user at a time, this "should" work...

I use Dropbox - I have the IQ db in the dropbox folder
AFAIK
it doesnt update until I close the file (I usually close IQ completely to be on the safe side)

Just in case that would have an influence - I could see it causing problems in sharing scenario

I've been meaning to ask in their forums about it but havent gotten around to it

Thanks for the comments.
I'll have to postpone the idea of collaboration over the net for some time as I can't really find something that I like. The perfect solution would be... IQ db in the clouds...

that's great news Pierre!

Google Docs within Google Apps is surprisingly powerful BUT annoyingly spreadsheet focussed. Google is quietly working towards a database in the cloud - a Google spreadsheet already has an SQL  query facility (one table only!); Google Cloud SQL is now available in Google App Engine - but no end-user interface for now, and the database will become chargeable.

Microsoft Access databases can be cloud-hosted - but only very expensively in Sharepoint Server. That does mean that an IQbase could be cloud enabled, but the solution is too expensive for normal mortals.

All the various "database in the cloud" solutions are chargeable and most have a high cost of ownership.

This all suggests that a cloud-enabled InfoQube would be a Very Good Thing! And a useful  revenue stream, Pierre.

FYI, It's also what is keeping me from using it with my colleagues (aka new customers :).

That said, I realize this would be a very hard problem to solve. I think the first step would be the ability to export to an existing cloud outline service. Of course you could add outline file exporting/importing and someone (maybe me :) might write the cloud upload part for you/us :). For others, here are the threads on that...
