When I try to create a new (text) field for display in a grid that has already been heavily populated with data, the column appears on the grid but will take no input.  I then tried changing the type of the field to Y/N, and the only value that would appear in the column - when a cell was double-clicked - was  the numeral '1'.  I'm assuming that a Yes value is stored internally as a 1, but the field is not showing a checkbox as it should and will take no input. Lest you think I may not know what I'm doing at all, the grid that I created this bug report on has a checkbox Y/N field named "reported" that says whether I've reported each specific item, and it works fine.  I'm using it as I work through the list, although there's not nearly as much information in this table as in the one where I experienced this problem.

Some changes to fields, currently require that the grid be closed and reopened. Can you try this to see if it fixes the issue

Hummmm... I've seen that, but a long time ago. It's definitely a bug. it can happen that a grid needs to  be closed an reopened when a new field has been created + added to the grid. But Pierre will know more...

ooops ... posted at the same time as pierre...

Ok, I deleted the non-functioning field (I'd already tried closing the form and that didn't work, and besides I'd futzed around with the damn thing so much I wasn't sure what state it was in).

Then I created a new Y/N field in 'manage fields', unchecked the 'show field' box, closed 'manage fields', closed the grid, opened the grid, opened 'manage fields', checked the 'show field' box for the field in question, closed 'manage fields', dragged the column to it's rightful position. It looked correct, with checkboxes this time, but for good measure I closed then opened the grid once more (for good luck, I guess).

Short story long, it worked!
