Hello,
I have some issues with IQ's power consumption. I use it all the time so it has a measurable impact on battery life and laptop temp/noise (fan speeding up).
1- Simple GUI operation.
E.g.:
- moving focus left/right in columns makes the CPU jump to 25-30%. Many items, many columns, but No filters are active.
2- Equations
Fairly simple row/column equations equations and GUI updates use a lot of CPU cycles. Probably optimizing stuff in the way auto-assigns and other equations are managed + some work on my side would help improving that.
3- IQ's idle CPU consumption
Somehow, IQ uses 1% of CPU when it's idle, all the time. (Of course, it'll use up to 4-6% for relatively short periods when it's not used and doing background operations, but I'm not talking about that.)
None are show stoppers, of course, but they do have an effect on battery life and laptop/tablet temp.
Comments
Is it because IQ refreshes all grids at the same time? Not sure, but most grid operations are on the slowish side, even with my not too old laptop.
