I have a TLI with 20 subitems.  The subitems contain names in the Item field.  I right-click on the TLI Item Field and select "Sort sub-items ascending".  Most of 20 sub-items do get sorted alphabetically, but three of them do not.  They appear as the first 3 subitems in the new sort.  They begin with D, B, W respectively, and then the remaining 17 items are properly sorted.

I can send a test file if it helps.

It appears not.  I clicked Column > Show HTML Codes and nothing appears at the start of the 3 items that did not sort properly.  I also checked for a prepended space but I didn't find that either.

Ok, then yes, if you can send the file over, it would the easiest.

what's the best way to do that Pierre?  The forum post editor allows file attachments but the messaging page does not appear to.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for sending the file. I was able to reproduce the issue. It was linked to the new equation parser (which requires that field be [  ] enclosed). It was incorrectly used to parse the sort criteria

I've updated the released version to 0.9.26PreRel52b which fixes the issue.

Thanks for reporting

Great !!  It wasn't a huge deal for me but I knew it was something you'd want to fix.

Pierre,

I've noticed that the subitems don't stay sorted after I sort them in ascending order.  BUT I think that what might be happening is that sorting is not saved in the new dropbox syncing mechanism, so that when the database is copied over from the sync copy in Dropbox, the sorting I did is undone.

Hi Jim,
Is this problem occurring with the latest version?
Can you give an example of sorting that doesn't "stick" (want to know what doesn't work as I'm wondering if I should delay installing V53 or not,)

Armando,

Yes, it is happening with prerel53, but it was also happening with prerel52.

Here's the problem.  I have Item as my tree column.  I have a TLI with subitems.  The subitems are sorted alphabetically by the text in the Item column.  I had sorted them by right-clicking the TLI in the Item column, and clicking Sort Sub-Items Ascending.  When I come back to the computer later (after working on the file on another computer, sycned through dropbox), I get the prompt that there is a newer version of the database, and I choose to close the older version and reopen the newer version.  When I do this, the subitems under the TLI have lost their sorting - they are now sorted in Descending rather than Ascending order.

I should check to see if the problem also happens with a non-synced database.

You may be right. I can't check it out right now, but it is possible the sorting does not register as a change. Check out if a star appears after the file name. If not I 'll fix it. For now, just make another minor change to register the change.
