About half the time I copy/paste text within an HTML pane (or in another pane), I get extraneous "A" type symbols (see lines #2 & #5 below).  Any ideas?

I don't use the html pane, but have you tried pasting as text? There are also Firefox extensions to facilitate copying as text. So, if paste as text is not an option, copy as text and then paste as you normally do into the html panel.

just to confirm the problem -- this [ the quote gets messed up from pasting but you can see the Â's - they get included as a prefix to the non-breaking space - see stackoverflow for explanation ]

OK, that explains what's going on.  It doesn't come up enough to be a problem.  It's easier to delete the extra letters and keep my formatting rather than go through a multi-step paste then add back the formatting that gets removed.

Thanks,
