I had high hopes that the promised fixes to the HTML pane in release 63 were going to resolve my problems. Unfortunately, they haven't.

I've already discussed the problems with displaying pdf's which I've had since I started using InfoQube more than a year ago.

I've also discussed problems with images. Well, they're back yet again. Everything will be working fine as I paste images into the HTML pane, then suddenly I start getting the "black square of death" and I know my work is at an end. Once it starts doing that, there's no cure for it except to wait for hours or days until it suddenly starts working again, temporarily.

I'm feeling pretty discouraged about it right now as i've sunk hundreds of hours of research time into using InfoQube. What utterly baffles me is the randomness of the problems: something works, then it doesn't work, then it works, then it doesn't work....argh.

I'm open to just giving up the HTML pane and trying to find a work around that will meet my needs. Maybe go to a link system but that's not nearly as nice as having the images directly display inside InfoQube.

Just trying to brainstorm ways to circumvent what appears to be a persistent path problem.

I think I'll try saving my screen capture as a jpg inside the same folder as InfoQube. Then I can use File>open to display it inside the HTML pane. It's not as convenient but maybe it would be more reliable.

Any other ideas along those lines?

the only way I can add an image to the file I'm working with atm (recently created) is via open as you suggest. (It does not matter where the files are located.)

Paste does not work, nor does drag and drop.

Note: once the file has been opened in the HTML pane, I am unable to get rid of it. I think I remember having that problem before, dont know if it's just unintuitive, or a bug (I tried selecting, then delete and also various options in the edit menu of the HTML pane, but no change)

Yes, I had that on my previous list of image misbehavior: the image gets "pasted" in the HTML pane and can't be re-sized or removed. I haven't had that happen for a while now

When I first tried InfoQube last year I posted a suggestion that it would be nice to be able to copy/paste images directly into the HTML pane. Pierre quickly added it. I still think it's a great feature if I can just figure out how to get it to work reliably.

Pasting images does not work at all for me.

(I tried with jpg and png files)

Good news, I was able to reproduce some of your issues with the HTML pane. A fix should be coming real soon then !

Thanks. Just out of curiosity Does what you found explain why it would randomly work then not work then work again? You don't need to give me a detailed technical explanation (probably wouldn't understand it).

I think so, time will tell.

In a few words, to make the html pane documents more portable, I try to force IE to use relative paths for images. 2 issues with that:

The code failed when the image was on a different drive than the IQBase. I had not tested that case, and that's why I could not reproduce it
IE internally does not like that and I think it does it's own thing and timing may explain why it works sometimes and sometimes not.

I'll change the code to use absolute paths and see if it does the trick. If yes, I'll try to find a compromise solution.

I just tested it again and it does find PDF's as long as they're on the same drive, not just inside the same folder. That's very helpful and if you can't solve the problem otherwise, I can make things work by moving my reference PDF's to the same drive.

Doesn't explain the image problem, though. Those are in the same folder with InfoQube.
